Durban Girls’ College is a benchmark for excellence in education for girls from  reception year to Grade 12 where a warm and caring foundation encourages a love of learning. While a Christian School, it welcomes girls of other religions. The school was established in 1877 and  offers  a wide variety of subjects and co-curricular opportunities, with world-class facilities. They offer weekly boarding to girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12 where girls have the choice to work out in the gym, read and watch TV in the lounge, relax in the dorms or on the large verandah. Computers are networked to the school system for the girls’ convenience.

Durban Girls’ College is an Independent School and is a prominent member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA). The school is guided by a Board of Governors who, with the Headmaster, determines the school policy.

At the end of twelve years’ formal schooling, girls write an external school-leaving examination, the Independent Examinations Board Senior Certificate, in preparation for higher education and a career.
