They were founded in 1899 by the Holy Family Sisters and the school stands as a landmark overlooking the sea. Comprising five schools in one, Maris Stella is a Catholic school that caters for girls from all races and denominations from Pre-school to Matriculation.
Maris Stella has an excellent recognised academic standard. The pupils follow the National Core Syllabus and their Matrics write the Independent Examination Board (IEB) examinations. Durban Girls’ College is a benchmark for excellence in education for girls from reception year to Grade 12 where a warm and caring foundation encourages a love of learning.
