The school started out in 1985 because of the need for remedial education in the Lowveld. They operate within a  non-discriminatory, Christian ethos which we aspire to provide every pupil with the opportunities and skills to achieve to their full potential.

They cater for pupils from Grade 1 to Grade 9 with small classes. The school caters for students who are of average to above average intellect and who have barriers to effective learning. Classes are offered in both English and Afrikaans. They have a specialised team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Educational Psychologist and Remedial Therapists.

They follow a mainstream curriculum with the view to returning pupils to mainstream schools where appropriate.
They have a small, homely boarding facility which caters for boys only from Grade 4 to Grade 9 on a weekly basis.

Flamboyant School is an independent school with full membership of Independent Schools’ Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and Southern African Heads of Independent Schools Association (SAHISA).

They also have -

• a full sport programme – swimming, athletics, cross-country, soccer and netball
• formal music lessons for grades 1-4
• music and drama is presented to pupils in grades 5-9 in the formal Arts and Culture lessons
• art lessons
• clubs are offered which range from model building to pet care to chess
